The authors of this survey paint with a rather broad brush when they decry the unsatisfying conclusions of alien invasion novels since &quot;The War of the Worlds&quot; -- there have been quite a few, some of them brilliant.  &quot;Childhood&#039;s End&quot; comes to mind.  It had better be on that list, too!]]></description>
