Sometimes I agree strongly with judges’ choices. Other times, I disagree with equal fervor. That wouldn’t be the case if I went into the posts with preconceptions. (You can find all of the posts in the “Reality Check” series by searching this site or Googling the phrases “Reality Check” and “One-Minute Book Reviews.”) Often I haven’t read a book before it’s won an award, so I don’t know what I’m going to find. I’m always happy to be surprised.
