A recent New York magazine article called it one of the biggest clinkers of the past few years (books that didn’t earn back anything near their advances), along with “Thirteen Moons” and maybe one or two other books.

Could it be that readers have had enough and are fighting back by refusing to buy some of the overhyped books?
