Those are great suggestions. Maurice Sendak's standards for picture books are so high that if I were a parent, I'd look at those books just for that reason. Thanks so much.

My favorite books for teaching children about manners are "What Do You Do, Dear?" and "What Do You Say, Dear?" by Sesyle Joslin, with illustrations by the great Maurice Sendak. These were originally published about 50 years ago (and yes, I remember reading them as a child), but are still available new in paperback today.

I've read Willems' "Knuffle Bunny Too: A Case of Mistaken Identity" as it is a 2008 Caldecott Honor Book, but I'll have to see if I can find "TiME to SAY 'PLEASE'" at the public library today. After your review, I won't be buying the latter for my curriculum collection at the university!
