Raptors are like wolves and certain other wild creatures in that it seems hard for many people to write about them objectively -- authors tend either to demonize or sentimentalize them. The author and the illustrator of &quot;Pale Male&quot; avoided those extremes admirably. And partly for that reason, this one should have a long life in libraries and elsewhere.
