“Blandings’ Way” is harder to track down, though Amazon has used copies. And both novels are so much better than so many of the new books that get heaped with praise by critics. It’s remarkable how, in some ways, the basic issues that bedevil homebuyers (costs, surly contractors, that famous “transition period” to a new community that for some people never ends) haven’t changed in more than half a century. And Hodgins nails the.

Oh: This is a case where it’s worth going backwards, too. So many movies spoil the books for you. Not in this case. Thanks so much for your comment.
