Jutta Richter, one of Germany’s most admired children’s authors, makes her American debut with The Summer of the Pike www.milkweed.org, a contemporary young adult novel about three children whose parents serve as caretakers of castle. A review of the book will appear next Saturday, Sept. 22, on One-Minute Book Reviews.
Richter won the 2001 German Youth Literature Award her The Day I Learned to Tame Spiders and the 2004 Herman Hesse Prize for her body of work. She also writes for adults.
