One-Minute Book Reviews to announce the winner of the first Delete Key Awards on Thursday

Here’s reminder list of finalists for the 2007 Delete Key Awards, which recognize the worst writing in hardcover or paperback books published in the past year. The short list appeared Feb. 28 on One-Minute Book Reviews, a site created by Janice Harayda www.janiceharayda.com, who has been the book columnist for Glamour, the book editor of the Plain Dealer and a vice-president of the National Book Critics Circle.

You can find a brief description of each book on the short list and a sample of its bad writing by checking the Feb. 28 posts in the February archive. (Each finalist received a separate post on that date.) You’ll find more information in the original review of each book, archived in the category in parentheses on the following list.

The winner is being announced on March 15 because Julius Caesar was assassinated on the Ides of March, and some finalists are trying to assassinate the English language. If you believe that a book should win, you have until 5 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday to leave a comment. A Feb. 27 post has facts about the Delete Key Awards and is archived with the February posts and in the “Delete Key Awards” category on this site.
